Who We Are

Dublin Circus Project (DCP) is a non profit, member based organisation working to bring the circus arts to life in Dublin and beyond. We achieve this through building awareness, increasing participation by all and by raising the skill levels of practitioners in Dublin.

Founded in 2009, we have a dedicated, volunteer management team voted in by our members, all of whom work very hard to facilitate the training space and organise and manage the ongoing activities of Dublin Circus Project.

Our members vary from full time circus performers to emerging circus artists to hobbyists engaging in a fun fitness alternative. If you are interested in becoming a member you can click over to our page about registration and membership for further information. If you would like to connect with us for work opportunities or projects please feel free to contact us.

What We Do

Skill and Professional Development

We offer circus artist development through the provision of a Dublin based training facility, the Dublin Circus Centre, where beginners, hobbyists and seasoned professionals are welcome to train and hone their skills, or even just to have fun! By offering regular circus skills classes and workshops over a variety of disciplines we encourage people of all skill levels to join in and learn.

Productions and Events

Throughout the year we produce multiple events from social occasions to professional productions. These events include our ever popular Renegade!, our amateur/emerging artist Open Stage shows, our Street and Circus Theatre productions and more. For all of these event our members can get involved and take their skills to the stage.

Our productions are collaborative, peer-to-peer creations lead by a director. Previous DCP productions include:

Street Theatre

Youth Education

It’s important to train up the next generation of circus performers and my, oh my, are they quick learners! We love teaching youth, from toddlers to teens, by creating custom programmes for schools and communities groups and running beginner level circus training classes. Their eyes always light up when they see that big bag of circus toys!

The benefits of circus skills in the development of youth are broad ranging and long lasting. Benefits include increased hand-eye coordination, balance, body and spacial awareness, social capacity and imagination, just to name a few. Circus skills are highly effective as a developmental medium and incredibly beneficial for youth.

Participants of DCP youth programmes will have the opportunity to learn the basic elements of circus while having fun.

If you are interested in our youth circus programmes and would like to discuss a tailored programme for your group please contact us for more information.

Social Circus

Social Circus refers to the increasingly popular use of circus arts as mediums for social justice and social good. Within the context of circus skills education, the aim is to develop and improve the social capacity and well-being, both physical and mental, of the participants. Participants are most commonly youth who are marginalized or at social or personal risk however Social Circus can also be applied to the lesser-abled and elderly people.

Dublin Circus Project have previously run Social Circus programmes with Direct Provision centres and other at risk groups. If you are interested in speaking with us about running a Social Circus programme please contact us.

Provision Of Work

We believe circus to not only be a great hobby and source of fun and entertainment for practitioners, but to also have the capacity to provide work at fair rates in the forms of entertainment, education and administration. As such, Dublin Circus Project endeavor to source work for its members through performance hire, classes, workshops, outreach programmes, corporate hire and more.

If you are looking to hire performers or facilitators for your event, occasion, school programme, team building workshops or other,  please contact us for more information.
