Dublin Circus Project runs youth and Social Circus outreach programmes for children aged 4 to 18 years old. The programmes range in duration from once off workshops to multiple weeks, all the way up to yearlong.
We in Dublin Circus Project are passionate about bringing circus to the lives of youth no matter what their age and circumstances – from playschool up to secondary school, home school to community youth groups, Direct Provision centres, circus camps and more. The benefits circus brings to the life of the child are wide ranging, the perfect thing for their personal, social, physical and mental development.
See below for more information on our programmes.
Circus skills are highly effective as a developmental medium and are incredibly beneficial to young people. Participants in DCP youth programmes will have the opportunity to learn the basic elements of circus while developing their skills and having fun.
Social Circus refers to the increasingly popular use of circus arts as a medium for social justice and social good. Within the context of circus skills education, the aim is to develop and improve the social capacity and well-being, both physical and mental, of the participants. Participants are most commonly youth who are marginalized or at social or personal risk, however, Social Circus can also be applied to the lesser-abled and elderly people.
