Dublin Circus Project runs a variety of youth circus training programmes for those aged 4 to 18 years old, from playschool right up through secondary school. We also work with community groups, home schools, summer schools, those who are at-risk (see Social Circus) and anyone else who would like to bring circus to the lives of young people.
The benefits of circus skills in the development of youth are broad ranging and long lasting. Benefits include increased hand-eye coordination, balance, body and spacial awareness, increased focus and attention, personal and social capacity, imagination, creative expression, and more, all within a non-competitive atmosphere.
Participants of DCP youth programmes will have the opportunity to learn the basic elements of circus while developing their skills and having fun.
“From juggling to hula hoop to balancing acts, the variety of classes suited all nationalities and ages. We received great reviews from both the students and their group leaders and will definitely be looking into a lot more workshops for the future.” - Adam Clarke, ECI Programme Coordinator
We offer a wide range of skills and are very flexible in what we can bring to each group as we measure what can be taught by the age and skill level of the group as well as working with you to create a tailor made programme to bring you the best experience possible.
The circus skills listed below are by no means exhaustive and so if there is a particular skill you have in mind that is not listed here please let us know and we will see if we can make it happen.
|Aerial Hoop||Hula Hooping|
|Aerial Silks||Juggling – balls, clubs, cigar boxes, rings|
|Balance props – feathers, clubs, sticks, etc.||Plate spinning|
|Balloon Modelling||Rolla bolla|
Bringing Circus to Your School or Youth Group
When creating a programme for your group we are very flexible and can work with you to tailor it to your requirements. We can do anything from once off workshops to multiple week terms to year long programmes so as to bring the best experience to your group.
We have previously worked with playschools, transition year secondary schools, English language summer schools, homeschools and Direct Provision centres. Class durations can be anywhere from between 30 minutes to hours long.
If you would like to bring circus to the lives of your youth group please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would be delighted to hear from you.
